ORANGE

Art eh?

*****

I was invited to take an orange from a pile.

But I couldn’t take a picture.

*****

“Art works were ordered, not by space or volume, but by time.”

*****

I don’t like oranges.

*****

“Reading rather than looking.”

*****

Ok, ok… 5 Colin Stars.

Cheers,

PS On the way home I couldn’t shut my bag because of the blinkin orange.

CEASELESSLY

I looked into the bottomless pit.
I looked through Facebook.
A sense of self is fabricated via a supply chain of objects, ideas and experiences.
It’s just us… our perseverating embrace… I think I prefer it that way.
Ceaselessly circulating.
Ceaselessly stimulating.
David’s proposal was to make a work on how America broke his heart.
I didn’t do anything because I was scared.
There was, like, crying.
Yes, I feel you baby.
I wish it was different.
Hiroshima.
I had to take my shoes off.

(Some words).

Cheers,

Martinxx

PAINT

Some words: paint, nudity, Japan, oranges, cross dressing, Instagram, school children, mail order brides, masks, feminism, a tree, a leap into the unknown.

“It wasn’t purely documentation; it was about figuration in painting. I would photograph a performance and I was really into looking at the images.”

@tate modern.

“A game between I am me.”

Duchamp, innit.

AGONY

Some words:

Kissing on the lips

My whole life depends on you now

Silence

The agony of waiting

Don’t lean back that way you might fall

My fathers death

Confessions

I was going to ask her to marry me

Happiness means being close to the one you love that’s all

A scooter

A croissant

A police car

A parrot

A high heeled shoe

*****

Let me explain.

*****

The Museum of Innocence @somersethouse is a series of labelled cabinets containing objects relating to a fictional story of a fictional relationship.

*****

When I put it like that.

*****

“If the line that joins moments together creates time then the line that joins objects creates stories.”

They put it like that.

It’s really good.

URUGUAY

“I don’t have a philosophy. I have a camera.”

Saul Leiter.

*****

We learnt lots @tpgallery #photographersgallery.

We learnt about Saul Leiter and his everyday photos of NYC.

“Souvenirs of an unfinished world.”

We learnt about the Easter Rising.

And we learnt about pre revolutionary Uruguay.

Stay with us.

Some old slide projectors.

Stay with us.

Depicting scenes from the period.

Stay with us.

When you pressed a red button.

To the sound of a music box rendition of the Communist Internationale.

Look it was haunting alright?

A picture tells… Blah, Blah, Blah.

UNDEAD

There was a lot going on #champagnelife @saatchi_gallery.

*****

Some words: Goats, Minnie Mouse, Sweden, the elderly, cows, body builders, terrorists, pots and pans, dead horses, undead people and a cockatoo.

*****

I mean, that’s essentially it but you should still go because it’s very good.

*****

Especially the huge pictures of the old ladies.

*****

‘An emptying of images of all meaning.’

Or a ‘powerful statement about our contemporary image culture.’

Nicked that from the guide book.

CHILL

I like art when it’s on the button.

Like ‘Big Data’ at Somerset House and this…

‘Use, user, used’ @zabludowicz_col.

*****

Cutting into 24 hour work culture through…

…some words:

cats, boxes, heads, wonderlands, graphics, screens, dancers (we thought they were just people there), wrecks, coats, hammers, sickles and Britney

Just what we’ve always wanted.

Chill people.

QUOTES

Quotes are good aren’t they?

#tibetssecrettemple @explorewellcome

*****

It was two hours to wait to do the coloured mist thing.

So we didn’t.

This was good too.

“Birth, sickness, ageing and death flow ever onward without food or bridge… Have you prepared yourself a boat?”

Mahasiddha Padampa Sangye

Blimey, I’ll get on to it…

“Some are bound by renouncing things. Others by these same things gain unsurpassable enlightenment.”

Mahasiddha Saraha

The second one sounds better. I’m that one. The unsurpassable enlightenment thing.

“It is with our emotion that we create demons and gods: those things we don’t want in our lives and world are the demons; those things which we would draw to us are the gods and goddesses. The rest is just scenery.”

Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche
My mum and dad walk me and give me food but gods? Hmm.

“I have seen in my wandering a great temples and shrines but none are as blissful as my own body.”

Mahasiddha Saraha

There was a lot to read plus many statues and pictures and drapes.

I did like it.

“The mind is just like a body… You have to nourish it you have to clean it.”

A video at the end.

I mean it was all good stuff.

“They [children] don’t have a moment of silence.”

Video.

Aaah yes. It’s busy being a kid.

And a cultural staffy.

KITES

“There are no rules in the flying competitions.”

Banned by the taliban, Afghans are now free to fly kites again.

And this is shown sumptuously in a lovely exhibition @museumchildhood.

“The sport has taken on the status of an art form.”

It was moving.

*****

Now just 24 weeks, I want to take my boy kite flying one day.

I also want to show him all the lovely museums and galleries of London.

NERVOUS

Sometimes you want to do something but not too many things and nothing hard.

*****

I’m going to say again about Herald St in Bethnal Green.

They’re are 5 galleries.

All free.

All showing interesting art.

You have to buzz but then it’s like a succession of aladdins caves.

Don’t be nervous.

Visual Art is easy.

Cheers,

Martin x
