PUKING

Your baby is puking, your dog is pulling, the clouds are emptying…

What do you want your husband to say at that point… to ease the pain…

“Can we got to the shell gallery?”

*****

I mean this wasn’t quite the avant grade art galleries of Bethnal Green, yet neither was it the £6 fan museum of Greenwich.

Its amazing what people can do with shells.

Imagine what they could put those skills to…

Imagine.

PS Oh, its free.

PPS You just have to travel to the loveliest town in the world.

BEDLAM

“The world is but a great bedlam where those that are more mad lock up those who are less.”

‘Beyond Bedlam’ @explorewellcome.

All the little audio commentary things been taken you see so we actually had to read stuff.

*****

There was a lot of old books but also a really good bit where patients had designed their ideal place to be…

I don’t think you were meant to take photos but still go even though you’ve looked at my illuminating blog.

It’s free.

“Most left no trace beyond their medical records.”

AGONY

Some words:

Kissing on the lips

My whole life depends on you now

Silence

The agony of waiting

Don’t lean back that way you might fall

My fathers death

Confessions

I was going to ask her to marry me

Happiness means being close to the one you love that’s all

A scooter

A croissant

A police car

A parrot

A high heeled shoe

*****

Let me explain.

*****

The Museum of Innocence @somersethouse is a series of labelled cabinets containing objects relating to a fictional story of a fictional relationship.

*****

When I put it like that.

*****

“If the line that joins moments together creates time then the line that joins objects creates stories.”

They put it like that.

It’s really good.

DATA

It was quite a lot to take in.

#bigbangdata @somersethouse.

90% of the data in the world today was created in the last two years alone

*****

It was quite a lot to tweet.

It was quite a lot to Instagram.

It was quite a lot to Audioboom.

“I tried to capture my laughs which was really hard and got in the
way of enjoying life.” Giorgia Lupu and Stephanie Posavec.

At that point we gave up.

*****

Perhaps the most interesting bit was former National Surveillance Agency employee William Binney and his concerns about our apathy towards government surveillance.

“We haven’t had anything to say so far.”

As programmes he’d designed to report on enemy foreign states were

“Turned inward.”

Best exhibition of the year,

KITES

“There are no rules in the flying competitions.”

Banned by the taliban, Afghans are now free to fly kites again.

And this is shown sumptuously in a lovely exhibition @museumchildhood.

“The sport has taken on the status of an art form.”

It was moving.

*****

Now just 24 weeks, I want to take my boy kite flying one day.

I also want to show him all the lovely museums and galleries of London.

MEMORIES

“Memory exists only when it is recalled.”

******

#aliceanderson @explorewellcome.

“Everyday things that surround us, that will outlive us, that we often barely acknowledge.”

Everyday things mummified in copper wire.

Everyday memories preserved on social media.

Some words: copper, coppers, car, coke, guitar, canoe, glasses, iron, bike, speakers, TV, phone, laptop.

Etc.

They say:

“With this exhibition Alice Anderson shows that even those objects that ‘speak’ to us because of their familiarity are fundamentally altered by our experience of time. Anderson’s invitation to create a social sculpture will enable visitors to discover both the unstable nature of memory and its profoundly creative potent.”

We say:

“Really, really good.”

CHIPS

Iv had some left over chips and have been very over stimulated on transport today so I’m going to be lazy with my blog.

The Foundling Museum in London tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, Britain’s first home for abandoned children. The museum houses the nationally important Foundling Hospital Art Collection as well as the Gerald Coke Handel Collection, the world’s greatest privately amassed collection of Handel memorabilia

See that was just nicked from Wikipedia.

Also… Pictures tell 1000 words…

A photo blog ok?

3000 words there.

Posterwise…

“One of London’s premier small museums.”

4 Colin Stars.

You can sit in leather chairs and listen to Handel for around 8 pounds.

Cheers,

Martin xx

LOVING

“Exquisitely executed.”

“Rendered with a loving attention to detail.”

“Took me to another world.”

A simpler world. The world of Beatrix Potter. It’s in the Lake District.

They can have those quotes for their poster.

Some words: Jemima Puddleduck, Miss Tiggywinkle, Squirrel Nutkin, Tom Kitten, Benjamin Button, Jeremy Fisher, Mrs Tittlemouse, Ginger, Pickles, Pigling Bland, Flopsy, Mopsy, Cottontail and Peter.

Lovely.

All the more lovely for being under 10 pounds.
