MEMORIES

“Memory exists only when it is recalled.”

******

#aliceanderson @explorewellcome.

“Everyday things that surround us, that will outlive us, that we often barely acknowledge.”

Everyday things mummified in copper wire.

Everyday memories preserved on social media.

Some words: copper, coppers, car, coke, guitar, canoe, glasses, iron, bike, speakers, TV, phone, laptop.

Etc.

They say:

“With this exhibition Alice Anderson shows that even those objects that ‘speak’ to us because of their familiarity are fundamentally altered by our experience of time. Anderson’s invitation to create a social sculpture will enable visitors to discover both the unstable nature of memory and its profoundly creative potent.”

We say:

“Really, really good.”

BELTS

Was going to blog about this earlier, but, you know… Been tired and stuff.

*****

Bloomin stuff.

*****

Sonia Delaunay @tate modern.

Some words: faces, expressions, colours, shapes, patterns, movements, dancers, conveyor belts, love.

I also learnt what a gouache was on Wikipedia as I went round.

No, I’m not going to tell.

Go tho. It’s probably the best art.

We liked it a lot.

5 Colin stars.

Cheers,

Martin xx

THERE/NOT THERE

Sometimes an exhibition ticks a lot of boxes for a person.

Duchamp @barbicancentre. Muddy from dogs.

Heres pretension…

Whats interesting about this particular one is that its all really about the interconnectivety of duchamp and these people he influenced and how thy kind of fed off each other.

And played chess.

Some words: boxes, wheels, urinals, nude (descending a staircase), sub cubist boobs etc, pianos, chess, musical boxes, there, not there,

An absence that makes things more complete.

GUESS

I guess we should do a blog as we did something.

We went to man ray at the national portrait gallery.

It was 12 pounds and of moderate size and full of black and white portrait photos of 20th century oddballs.

Now we like this…

HEDGE UR BETS

So there was some art.

A new gallery.

The Pangolin.

It had pieces by famous people like Damien Hirst (he conceived the sharks to move) and sarah lucas.

*****

But best is having some food and some football with your dad.

Its funny going to the premier league which is epic… The noise.

After non league which is cheap but dull.

In the middle is lovely cuddly often rubbish @leytonorientfc which has bearable toilets, singing but slightly easier prices.

Hedge your bets?

Have lots of teams.

Then if one loses…

What? They all lost??

Quadruple depression.

But i went with my dad so it was still great.

*****

In the evening it is sometimes ok to watch the telly.

And even if your crushingly lonely if you have a clever staffy* and an i app you can play along with telly quizzes to make u feel 10% better.

Like million pound drop which is all…

Hedge ur bets.

See what i did there?

Love,

Colinxx

SATURDAY NIGHT

Doggy let me do this too…

Tate modern blackouts, little sun, olafur eliasson, poetry and dream.

Solar powered surrealism.*

I liked it best cos you could chat people up asking for their light.

Almost like smoking cool but without the cancer.

Other people seemed “oo its dark” happy but I dont think other people were enjoying it q as much as me.

I was getting in a pickle trying to take shadow pix.

But loving it.

Theyre on the wondrous instagram which has been a life saver.

Now @thedogwhatblogs holds the purse strings…

Notionally free but u had to buy the little lamp for the equivalent of three trips to Haringey Borough FC.

But it beats taking pix of old men.

Love,

Colinxx

I wanted her on the left slightly…

*he asked me to provide more detail. Its like a torch round ur neck right and they turned the lights off in the gallery. Jeesh.

SAUSAGE MACHINE

We are playing host to worlds greatest sporting event.

I am not amused.

'Stick' has failed to be included.

AGAIN.

Its always a cultural olympiad @thedogwhatblogs.

Here is a new place for us.

The Camden Arts Centre.

It is not in Camden.

But it is an arts centre.

Very well done. Very well done Camden Arts Centre on ur v cool surreal Bruce Lacey exhibition.

Thats from the heart.

Some words: flying dolls, no cock, sausage machine, no fanny, robots, no boobs, the occult, ….a cuddly toy! (yey!)…

There was also a reading room.

Weve theorised on them before.

Some bean bags.

And some funny films.

Now the boy wonder @albiestar wants to go back because u can record your boring stories for something called 'it ok to be boring.'

It isnt.

I combine brevity with insight and wit.

Always.

You dont need to thank me.

Love,

Harleyxx
