N8ISGR8

We didnt have the emotional energy for this blog yday for a number of reasons.

We always protested… “Hornsey is the place to be.”

It, like many things, fell on deaf ears but me and the boywonder @albiestar are often right.

Homsey Town hall itself is interesting… One of the first modernist structures or something.

Its all v art deco.

Anyway its all v art too because it houses @artangel projects.

At the moment in its corridors and council chambers it houses neon signs, memorabilia, posters and 3 films by Yael Bartana. These films are about a Polish jew who begins by calling the diaspora who have left Poland to return and assert there jewishness alongside the polishness in a celebration of now.

I cant really do this amount of history, culture and religion justice.

Im a staffordshire bull terrier.

But if you’re in Hornsey at the weekend-and lets face it who isnt?-

Go.

*****

Sashayed along then to laughter yoga where we got chucked out The Royal Festival Hall…

But you’ve gotta laugh?…

Surely?

Love,

Harleyxx

THEIR LOSS

The @BritishLibrary.

Fuck iv got a lot of books to read.

And im still struggling with my “Who’s who in the archers.”

Chilled coffeey wifiiiy free laptop parking space.

With similar if you sit with a Write Together @meetup.

Theyre everywhere… Like dr dre headphones or collapsing european economies…

Then, should you fancy, potter down to the ‘Writing Britain’ exhibition.

They say: “Novels, poetry and plays can shape our perceptions and transform our places through imagination.”

Time out says: “…” Similar.

We @thedogwhatblogs say: “A tenner is a lot for an excuse for them to get their dusty books out.” It is interesting and there are headphones and videos. Go if your a concession…

I tried to pretend I was a guide dog declaring: “The boy wonder @albiestar is blind to all reason” but they weren’t impressed.

Their loss.

Love,

Harleyxx

IMAGINED WORLDS

Sometimes one might think they are all around us.

Perhaps they are spoken by other people.

Perhaps you were once married to them…

I digress.

I am here to enthuse about a japanese chap called Masakatsu Kondo who is hung in All Visual Arts.

The boy wonder @albiestar told me to make a joke here around the word ‘hung’ but I will not, will not lower myself to his level…

Some words: boats, trees, colours, no cock, butterflies, big, mirrors, ruins, school text books, NO BOOBS, dreams, comics, birds, NO FANNY.

Anyway if u like mews-based escapism while thinking ‘hmmmmmmm’ then this is it.

Sorry im in danger of becoming flippant again… It’s really very good…

Let me cut and paste from the leaflet…

”Whenever I am silent’ is a meditation on the artifice of nature, exploring the space between the percieved and the real in a series of compelling landscapes.”

Satisfied?

But I repeat… No fanny.

Love,

Harleyxx

THE CURE

Heres another boredom cure.

Volunteering.

Its a good way of meeting people too.

Which is the best cure.

Locally we have…

Haringey Timebank

http://www.haringeytimebank.org.uk/

But pop in a library and peruse a notice board. Pop on the computer and explore the internet. Online noticeboard.

We describe our skills as ‘creative’ which isnt as good as being able to fix squeaky doors.

Anyway you’ll find ideas sparking off in all directions… Ours went this way…

Found Art Project UPDATE!

Tickling our surrealist funny bone.

Here are some pix…

You also find people links between activities. A lady at timebank has joined our choir.

lovely,

KNOMES

Last night Colin and I watched Alan Ayckbourn’s latest ‘Neighbourhood Watch’ at the very cool Tricycle Theatre in Kilburn.

It was very good.

It had him from Game On in. Playing another Martin. He was v martinny.

Great characters, great acting, on the topical button script…  slightly muddied by an overly absurdist ending (ten foot bronze knomes anyone?).

I give it 4 Harley stars. You’ll laugh a lot and mutter ‘scarilly realistic’ maybe twice so that makes a good evening in anyones books.

Love,

Harley xx

REMOTE

Its been a while.

Quit your whining we’ve been depressed.

So today was board games in Crouch End. Nothing to write home about or indeed nothing to write to the universe about. Pleasant.

We like pleasant.

Yesterday we did the highbrow low brow thing.

Its a theme if you will.

You can make up your mind which is which.

We began learning how to invigilate @thestonespace.

Its a gallery in Leytonstone. Nearly as desirable as Hornsey.

The current exhibition is called ‘Remote Cities’ by Eleanor Bedlow.

Im cutting and pasting cos im lazy…

In ‘Remote Cities’, Bedlow introduces us to an imagined landscape from a surreal world where the Imaginary cities that occupy her mind are formulated into models and then into drawings. For the first time, extracts from these imaginary cities will be shown as sculptures alongside her drawing.
Either through migration or growing up, the places that we remember occupying, change and leave us to become a memory.”

Like they said. Hey, I’m busy actually doing stuff.

Followed it up with… wait for it…

Wait for it…

An Orient win!

I think they actually played well but we having a bit of an internal time of it but at least it wasn’t too cold.

Aaand finally… we sashayed to the Maureen Paley gallery in Bethnal Green for much chillingness…

Stick this is your blogpipe and smoke it… re: Thomas Eggerer exhibition…

In the exhibition, Eggerer continues to develop his interest in portraying groups of people in large spatial expanses. In addition, he explores a more focused study of piano virtuoso Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli, shown at his piano in three new portraits.

Its true.

Thomas Eggerer was born in Munich, Germany and studied painting at the Art Academy in Munich. In the mid-1990s he collaborated with Jochen Klein on a series of projects relating to questions of identity and public space

Damn we were meant to make this blog ‘Easilly digestible with a cup of tea. And a digestive.” Elevator pitch. I can do business.

Anyway you’ve had all you can take.

In other news we’ve been falling apart and doing hospital radio.

Thankyou and goodnight.

Love,

Harleyxx
